  1. A bit slow for 2021 and I would not use it as my main Mac as a UI designer. but I use it as a secondary computer for when I want a small light weight Mac to carry to the coffee shop to do research or type word docks. you say, why don't you use your iPad? well, this Mac is actually lighter than the iPad with a keyboard and I can still do some design work in sketch or adobe cc if needed.

  2. I purchased a 2015 space gray, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD model for pennies on the dollar earlier this year on ebay. It came with a new battery and recent keyboard replacement by Apple. I have not encountered any problems. It is not my primary computing device.

  3. Thank you Palatine, very clear explaination. One question.. what about the speed? AND the temperature? I'm mainly using my laptop for watching movies, youtube, and live sport.

  4. The thing is I don't think this device is relevant now with the base MacBook Air M1. But with very light use I would see why someone would want to save a little money. But again I would really suggest just saving a little bit more and going for base MacBook Air M1. Let's hope Apple makes 12inch MacBook M1. That would be sick. Cool video bro

  5. Really great informative review, I had the 12" Macbook myself and it is a great little machine, however, I have to confess that I did sell it and purchase the Macbook Pro simply because it's much faster… Keep up the good work and hope to see more videos soon and good luck with your University work

  7. Great content. Hope they update this one with the m1x. Not critical, but please up your gain or speak up a bit. You have a softer way of speaking and I feel a little gain could help

  8. However, these machines were really expected to have low heat intel chips that never arrived. Because they rely on passive cooling, they are prone to overheating, and they have VERY severe logic board problems and are VERY prone to graphics issues, and doing an imitation of completely dead (except the chip is warm, and you can’t turn it off). They are the least serviceable macbook EVER.
I agree they are a lovely design, and I was wowed by the efficient form factor, lovely screen and light weight, but they are actually crap. Also they have the screen film issues – mine has marks from the keys on the keyboard all over it, just from shutting the lid! I’ve not had any keyboard problems though (which it is also known for).

Apple have just told me my machine is not repairable unless I get a new logic board. Costs more than they will give me as a trade-in! I bought it in mid 2017. Not good Apple. Machine in A1 condition and not used much, except when travelling.

I recommend that you stay away from these machines, even though I am in the apple ecosystem (the household has 2 x 5k iMacs, 4 Mac minis (incl 1 m1), a 2014 MacBook Air and about 5 iPhones.

  9. Thanks for the review. I just bought myself a new one last week and I’m impressed. It’s my first Mac and I love it’s tiny footprint. It’s a great little machine for word and general office work…. will also do Lightroom well

  10. Great review, Just ordered the new M1 MBA to replace my 2017 12" MB. I'm a little worried that the size difference even minimal is going to bother me. I really love the 12" MB foot print. Wish Apple had decided to add the M1 chip in this unit instead of the 13.3 Air.
